ABOUT THE GALLERY

No.18 Gallery opened in 2006 in a lovely building in the market town of Driffield, East Yorkshire. The owner Karen Cross has been in the art and framing business for over 20 years and continues to show a unique range of images from a variety of artists and makers from Yorkshire and further afield.

Karen gained a B.A. Degree in Graphic Design at Maidsone College of Art and went on to work at West Kent College in Tonbridge, Kent. In 1988 she moved to Yorkshire and opened The Stable Gallery in Garton-on-the-Wolds near Driffield before setting up Strides Gallery with her sister Alison in Driffield town.

No.18 Gallery has become known for promoting artists who are inspired by the Yorkshire landscape and coastline. See the limited editions page for some of those artists. A new venture is the reproduction of some of the railway posters depicting the area including Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby, Bridlington and Flamborough. These are high quality prints, mounted & framed and make an ideal gift.

PICTURE FRAMING @ No.18 DRIFFIELD As well as being on hand to assist with framing advice, Karen handles the picture framing which is all in-house. The Picture Framing is an integral part of the gallery, you can't have a picture without a frame. Help is always on hand to choose a suitable frame whether it's a picture you have already or one you have chosen from the gallery. There is a wide selection of both framed and unframed works to purchase.

ARTISTS CARDS The gallery has become renowned for its range of artists cards, again there is very much a local theme with coastal images & other landmarks of Yorkshire. Elspeth Thomson is a regular at No 18 with her range of occasion cards that are very individual and ideal for a wedding or anniversary. Other cards stocked include Diane Williams(Bird), Emma Ball, Kevin Maddison (Madkobie cards) & local artist Sue Slack.
